Stacy Andrews, PhD, LPC, NCC
I understand the experience of being different, and the tired ache at the end of a long day of pretending to be someone else. I understand the profound shift that comes with a late diagnosis: finally having language for who you are, while also reckoning with how long you went without it. I know the frustration of a working memory that won't cooperate, and the particular joy of spotting a pattern nobody else noticed. And I know the heartbreak of checking the lock anyway, even when you know you don't need to.
I also understand trauma, clinically and personally. I've worked with complex trauma for nearly a decade, specializing in approaches designed to help clients move through traumatic memories rather than around them.
I don't require eye contact or perfect vocal intonation. I know that ADHD sometimes means you forgot it was Wednesday. And I know what it's like to be told "you're so self-aware, I don't know what the problem is" by a therapist who didn't quite get it.
My approach is trauma-informed and adapts to your neurotype rather than asking you to adapt to a standard therapy format. I don't offer traditional talk therapy, not because there's anything wrong with it, but because it often isn't the right tool for neurodivergent adults processing trauma. The work we do together can bring up vulnerability, discomfort, and difficult emotions. That's not a side effect; it's part of how healing actually happens. My goal is for you to finish our work together feeling settled in yourself and genuinely connected to your life.
